Tru Calling 1x02
Beware of Spoilers
SPOILER SPACE . . . . . . . . .
Good Ep!
And another ep. that I can relate to, having been in two house fires, one from a 'fire bomb'. The first time we only lived because my sisters Mother in Law had a bad dream about us and called in the middle of the night, and while rushing out of the house my sister grabbed a doll, of all things, by the foot and took it outside with her...it was only after they got outside that they realised that the doll she was dangling upside down was my little brother........
This Ep. was kind of spooky,..to find out that Tru's now working at the same morgue that her Mom was brought to after she had been murdered.
It was also kind of cool, that she was in a room with other people this time, when she heard....'....help me'....
Even asking them, 'Did you hear that??'
Imagine being in her place...would you walk into the morgue?
And after 'waking up'....
Tru asks ,'Where are you going?'
To which Mark replies, 'I'm having breakfast with Dean Hazelton'.
.....and Tru gave 'the look' I was talking about, ..when she realised that 'IT' had happened again..... that was 'kewl'.
And I was surprised how fast the producers have caught on....there was less 're-cap', and Tru actually took a 'Taxi' to the firehouse!
And The OC coming on right after TC... good move FOX!
But -back to Tru....she had better be more careful !...walking into that basement all by herself?...and breaking and entering? ....She's fast on her feet, but sooner or later the odds are going to catch up with her....
And....The ending was 'really good'....with Tru talking to Nick's corpse....pleading with it...
'I'm not leaving till you ask...please,.....ask me........'

They were doing very, very well until the end of the episode. Evidently they were going to end with Tru and the fireman saving everybody, changed their minds at the last minute, and lost continuity. We are shown that the mother left the little girl behind, hiding under the bed, Tru and the fireman say a few lines, the fireman rushes back into the burning building without a respirator or turnout coat while two fully-equipped firefighters hold Tru back. Then we see the fireman, in the morgue, after, somehow--being dead and all--having saved the little girl. I did not have the feeling that the whole story led up to that conclusion after all. I hope they tighten up the production. The show is so good in so many other ways.

Hey Quarrel,

Ya know, I noticed there was a 'gap' in there, but only for a split second...when she went to look at the body, and saw it was Nick, my next thought was 'What about the little girl?!'
And her words and acting at the end were very good...I visited a half dozen or so forums tonight and thats the main topic for tonight's ep...many , women I suppose, say that they even cried.... it was strong stuff...this show has the potential to be Great, and now I think I would have liked it, even if Eliza weren't the star...but, I probably wouldnt have given it the chance to prove itself...I liked Early Edition, but after the first ep. I totally forgot about it...!
It wasnt until ppl. started comparing Tru Calling to it that I said, 'Oh yeah', what ever happened to that?'
That wont happen w/TC, even if I didnt have this forum...the show is already starting to find its place, which is pretty amazing, after only 2 EPs.
Its also interesting that in Ep.1 Tru saved # 32, but another #32 was brought in....something she did caused this OTHER woman TO die?
And tonight, she helped Nick, after he asked for help, but 'he' still died...
I guess 'playing God' isnt as much fun as we might imagine it to be...
I also loved Tru's line,' I don't know if I can take this'.
It shows that Tru's life is being affected, almost as much as those she 'helps'..and its already starting to be too much for her. And hints at some very serious future conflict....she probably wants to be a Doctor to 'help' ppl. Because she couldnt help her Mother.
But wouldn't she be helping more ppl. if she stayed working at the Morgue, 'for life'? And if she does leave...are these ppl. without any hope?
I also liked the part when she pulled away from Nick and told him that if she kissed him she would fall for him....
I had a similar experience, which was pretty 'dramatic' looking back...'we' were sitting on a couch in the dark and talking, and she ran away from me, I chased after her and grabbed her hand, she tried to pull to away, but I held on...I asked her , 'Whats wrong?' And she said through tears, 'Im falling in love with you!'..... ..'she' had a very troubled life, and it didnt work out....a few years later some thug shot her to death... then the Cops had a shoot out with the thug and killed him....I dont know..art immitating life?
The best part about 'TC2', is that TC has the potential to be great..and its starting to realise that...

I thougt that was a very, very episode. I liked the end, when she was talking to dead nick. The way she was pleading, it was like she fell in love with him at first site.
I also liked the part, in the clothing store, where Tru had already seen that the lady was going to snatch the shirt off her. I like how the lady was going in to grab it, and Tru grabbed it from her!
I also thought it was a bit weird/spooky that the corpses talked to Tru while she was in the Morgue Staff room with other people.
I also agree with what T said about Tru waking up again in the morning.
It was a good ep. can't wait till next week!!

I'm very sad to say... I fell asleep at around 7:00 p.m. and woke up at around 8:30 p.m.... I was so exhausted because Wednesday night we had this huge storm that kept me up all night with the shaking of the house and the thunder and lightning and the 'gah!' So I feel asleep... but the parts of TC that I saw were awesome and I'm so glad I didn't miss the ending. The ending really shows you how much she really cares and that someone really can fall in love in one day. I think Eliza is an amazing actress and the crying and pleading at the end showed her potential in that area because that part of her acting was never explored in Buffy or Angel or Bring It On/ect.. The thing Alyson Hannigan and Eliza Dushku have in common are their ability to make you FEEL what their character is feeling. When Alyson goes into the place of depression or sadness, you totally feel what she's supposedly feeling. When she had her major crying scenes in Buffy you just couldn't help but break down and cry with her! Eliza explored her potential in this area at the end of the show because I, myself, shed a few tears at her pleading and I felt how $@%^$@ off she was that she couldn't save Nick along with the little girl. So that was a fav. part of mine. Also under the tree where they shared a moment... great scene. Gawd, I just wish I was awake to see the first thirty minutes because then I'd have more to talk about! Heh. Oh a part that got to me was just before the end where the professor ex dude chased her down the hall of the morgue and thought that all her crying was over him! Self centered? But the way she didn't feel the need to tell him otherwise was good because you could tell she was thinking about how self involved he is, thinking about how every sadness or anger in her present life is over him and what he did during the ep. I know he was out to dinner with another girl and... kissing? I read that in a spoiler somewhere. Hopefully I'll see a rerun of it soon so I can have something more to talk about. This show is really take it's potential by the hand and thrusting it into the audience and it's showing how it can shine. TC was a little more put together in this second episode then the first because they're getting more and more into the pace of things. Also, I think the reason why there was a gap was because they were trying to work with the time they had, I'm sure they actually shot a scene for it but were forced to cut it in the final edit because of time. That just gives you a reason to look forward to the TC DVDs... if they decide to release them, heh.

I just realised that the goal of any form of entertainment is to touch the audience's emotions, to 'reach them'. Having read many posts about the first two Ep's of TC, I'm really surprised just how affective TC has been in reaching this goal, already. From those that I have read, several reviews of the Premiere, and MOST reviews of the second episode spoke of themselves actually crying with Tru at the end, when she pleaded with Nick to ask for her help. This is a sign of 'greatness', and to me, it is truly amazing, that any show could reach such heights in so short a time. Come what may, my hats off to Eliza and the ppl. at TC....amazing work...you've already set the bar very high, not only for TC , but for all other shows, too. TC , 'greatness' in 'television'...who would have thought it possible... ....I hope those critics enjoy eating 'crow'...

The second episode was excellent. Totally luved that how rite b4 a commercial there would be this suspense thing happen which leaves you breathless and u cant wait to c wut happens next. The episodes seem to get better from the previous and im guessing the guy who works at the morgue is gay. I just wished the fireman lived they looked cute together it just shows that even though she can go back 12 hrs she cant save every1 and that u cant predict the ending which is excellent.
I have to be honest i was looking forward to a faith spinoff but watching this show i hope this show goes on for a long time. Its got some intense competitors on thursday nite but i switch my tv at 8 to watch tru calling and those who arent watching this show there missing a great show.
Cant wait for next weeks episode.

I loved this episode so much, even more than the pilot. Someone mentioned dvds, I hope so! I love tv on dvd lol. Anyway I cried so hard at the end of this episode, I hadn't expected that this show would move me so much, especially since it hasn't been on that long. The story was just so touching though and the way she was pleading with him to ask for her help, just broke my heart! Gotta say, I love a show that can make me cry. Can't wait for the next episode.

TC3 should be good, because it involves Harrison...when family is involved its a whole different game...
When we hear of a 'murderer on the loose' everyone is scared and wants that person captured ASAP.
But - if it was a FAMILY memember, we might even hide them and ask them 'Why?!'
Would Tru help Harrison over 'someone' that 'asked' for help?....

Hey SG,
Im not reading any more spoilers!
But DAYUM, some of the things I did read!....um, Tru is 'crazy', she's going to get into trouble, and probably sooner than later...her ONLY 'power' is to go back a day with some information...and she acts like she's got 'superpowers'..
Tru had better stop worrying so much about others and worry about herself.. ..but, maybe thats 'what' makes people heros..

I think worrying about everyone but themselves is how heroes are made but also sort of how they fall because they don't pay enough attention to how they're feeling and then they break down and yatta yatta. It happened to Buffy, remember? She saved the world and saved the world and saved the world until finally it's like her own feelings didn't matter so she broke down. Then regaining her ground with a little more respect for herself, which was a good turn. Let's just hope it doesn't happen to Tru, although it seems that every hero breaks down one time or another. I concider Tru a hero, she saves people's lives! If that's not a hero I dunno what it.
