Tru Calling (TV): 'Not Green or Texas' has some big rumours on a delay in store for the Eliza Dushku series - "It looks like the new Fox show 'Tru Calling' is being pushed back to midseason or spring for a third round of recasting and rewriting. The first few episodes and the pilot are going to be reshot. Fox has told the producers of their other new show 'Still Life' to hurry up and they're starting production two weeks earlier than originally schedule (they're starting filming on September 23). Seems that unless the producers of 'Tru Calling' can quickly retool their show to the satisfaction of the executives at Fox, 'Still Life' will replace 'Tru Calling' and will premiere on October 30th whilst 'Tru Calling' will premiere some time next year as a midseason replacement".

On the face of it, the idea that TC won't debut until next year during midseason seems really disappointing.
But in reality it is probably good news!
FOX already gave the green light for the series, they like the pilot, and even started shooting the first episodes, so they do believe in the show.
So what has changed?
I think they woke up to the great potential of the show, all one has to do is look at the internet... the show was months away and fan sites were popping up all over the place with more being created each week.
Eliza has a huge following just waiting to back this show to the hilt.
Also, JW has said many many times that he would love to work with Eliza on a spin off from the Buffyverse...and Eliza has said several times that she is interested in the idea, too.
Fox could lose her in a heratbeat to a Faith The Slayer series, and they know it.
I think FOX wants to re-invest in the show and make it better, and probably give it a new time slot.
Putting it on late in the season (Oct.30th) and up against the last year of FRIENDS, and SURVIVOR doesn't give TC a very good chance at survival no matter how great the show turns out to be.
I think that FOX has finally seen the light, and is now working to give TC the real chance it deserves...lets hope so.
If it takes alittle longer to debut, thats ok... we want a long running hit!
Besides, we'll still get to see Faith on Angel from time to time.... and we have Faith the Slayer to look forward too...
it s a win-win situation.
