5/28 - The pilot begins with a flashback of Elise Davies' memorial service. We see a 12-year-old Tru standing next to her mother's coffin having a conversation with her mom. Tru says that she wishes she could go back to the day she died and help her. We then jump in time, Tru is now 22 and late for her graduation. Lindsay and Cameron, Tru's best friends, are already there. Tru arrives seconds before her name is called to get her diploma. She and her friends later go out drinking, she complains about her family not showing up at the graduation. Both her friends comment on Tru having a crush on Professor Mark Evans who just entered the bar. Tru says that it isn't true. In her apartment the morning after graduation, Tru wakes up and Professor Evans is there. They are involved and since Tru is not a student anymore, Mark wants them to go public even though there are still some issues. Harrison, Tru's brother, calls to ask for money because he lost some gambling. Tru refuses. Tru then goes to the hospital where she had an internship, turns out, she no longer does. A doctor gives her a lead on another job. Tru and Meredith, her sister, talk on the phone. All three Davies children will get together today as it is the anniversary of Elisa's death. Tru gets a job in a morgue as an entry level forensics attendant. She gets the graveyard shift. Later that day, Tru and Meredith get together. Tru finds drugs in her sister's purse. They also discuss Tru's job, the fact that Harrison isn't there yet, how their mother's death messed all of them up, and the fact that 'Tru's mother's' killer was never caught. Tru talks again about drugs and Meredith leaves. Harrison calls saying he is at the hospital. He got beaten up for gambling debts. Tru goes to the morgue to start her shift. She is being shown some bodies including one of a Rebecca Morgan who was shot in the back of the neck. Later, Tru starts to hear a muffled voice. Next morning, Tru wakes up. Mark is there and has the discussion about going public. She is reliving the previous day all over again. Lindsay and she have coffee and discuss déjà-vu. On TV, lottery numbers are announced, Tru remembers them as she heard them when she went to the hospital and was told she no longer had her internship. She checks a newspaper and sees that indeed today is yesterday... She calls the doctor about the internship. Helps people who missed the bus the "previous" day, not miss it this time. She eventually makes her way to a bar where Rebecca Morgan works. She tries to warn Rebecca that she is about to die. Rebecca gets a call from her ex who doesn't accept the breakup. Rebecca has Tru thrown out of the bar but not before Tru can get the last phone number Rebecca dialed. She finds out it's the number of a newspaper. Tru goes there and, by pretending to also work there, finds Aaron, Rebecca's ex. She finds out that Rebecca is also a dancer and that many other ex-boyfriends have a grudge against her. Tru talks with Elliott Winters, the father of one of Rebecca's dance student. He says there is nothing between him and Rebecca.
Tru calls her sister to set up the dinner. She also calls Mark.
Mr. Winters catches up with Tru and tells her to warn Rebecca that her threats aren't going to work and that it is over and that if Rebecca insists on telling his wife, he'll do everything to stop her. Tru tries to contact Rebecca, no luck. Tru then meets her brother at a card game. She tells him to get out of there now but he thinks he'll win big. Harrison refuses. She asks him to slow down while she finds a way to 'save' him. Tru goes to Rebecca's apartment. While waiting for her to show up, she bets with the doorman on who'll win the baseball game. Rebecca arrives and doesn't want to hear it from Tru. Tru finds out that Mr. Elliot is going to a private party and that Rebecca will be there. She is able to talk more with Rebecca. Tru has to go help her brother. She goes back to the card game and finds that Harrison lost all the money he was loaned. She finds a deck of card similar to the one used in the card game. Later on, she goes to Meredith's office and confronts her sister about the drugs. She goes back to the card game with the deck of cards and hands Harrison the cards he needs to win. Tru makes her way back to Rebecca's apartment. Aaron shows up to kill Rebecca who'se pregnant by Elliot. There is a struggle between him and Tru. He finally flees the scene. Thinking that she prevented Rebecca's death (even though it's 9:05 pm and it was said Rebecca had died at 10pm), Tru goes out to dinner with her siblings. Tru gets a call from Cameron who tells her that there may not have been an exit wound on Rebecca's body, maybe Rebecca committed suicide. Tru rushes back to Rebecca's apartment five minutes before 10 pm. Tru talks with Rebecca hoping to convince her. Later on, Tru goes to her first shift at the morgue anxious to see if Rebecca's body will be there. It is not... but someone else has been shot...
